The Problems of 1996

Jon Melvoin, keyboard player, died July 12th, 1996 on a Friday at 4AM.

He was using Heroin with Jimmy Chamberlin, drummer, at 2AM and had an overdose. Jimmy dragged him to the bathtub and called the police but it was too late. Jimmy was arrested and on July 17th, he was kicked out of the band. Jimmy has had drug problems in the past and was almost kicked out before.

Earlier that year, a girl was killed in a mosh pit at one of The Pumpkin's concerts. This is a horrible thing to happen to a band. The band has no longer allowed moshing at their concerts.

Recently, however, Billy, D'arcy and James have allowed Chamberlin back in the band. Chamberlin, they claim, has overcome his drug problems. Corgan says that Chamberlin being back has re-energized the band and they are working on a new album.
